Waldorf units were alerted to a chimney fire on Country Lane Monday morning to find fire in the walls of a single story house. Chief 3B was first arriving and went on the scene with smoke showing from the attic on side D of the house. As the B-Chief was entering the house he was met by a retired F/F from NDW who advised him there was fire in the walls around the wood stove and smoke in the attic. Once inside the residence, Chief 3B assessed the extent of possible extension and had everyone level 2 stage except for the 1st and 2nd due Engine and the first arriving special service. Engine 31 and Chief 3A arrived on the scene simultaneously, with the A-Chief assuming the Command and Engine-31 advancing a 1¾" pre connect into the residence. Engine-31 arrived on the scene and controlled the fire that was now burning the paneling around the fireplace. After confirming the fire was contained Command then decided to knock the assignment down to Engine-31, 32, and RS-40. RS-40 worked with Engine-31 to open the walls and overhaul the area around the fireplace. Units operated on the scene for about 1 hour.
