December 6, 2004 1900 hrs:
Units from Waldorf were dispatched for a house fire in the Charles Crossing neighborhood off of Middletown Road. Engine 121 arrived on the scene and found heavy fire on the 2nd floor and in the attic of a single-family home. Engine 121 established their own water supply in the front yard by means of a hydrant and pulled two 1¾" crosslays. Firefighters stretched one line to the fire on the 2nd floor and the other to protect the exposure on side 4. Engine 32 arrived on the scene shortly thereafter, performing the primary search, and stretching the 400' 1¾" to assist in fire supression. Tower 24 members performed the secondary search. Both searches were negative, all residents escaped without injury. Chief 3A had command of the incident.
There were no serious injuries, and the home was discovered to be that of one of the WVFD members. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The department extends its condolances to the member and family on the damage to their home.
