Tom Edwards

Current President Tom Edwards joined the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department in January of 1982. He is a Life Member, after having been an active member for 37 years. During his years of service he has held the positions of Chief’s aide, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Safety Officer, Deputy Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Secretary, Vice President, and President for 19 terms: 1992-2008, 2011-2013, and 2017-2019. In addition, President Edwards has served as a Board of Director. Currently, he is serving as both the President of the department and as the Department Safety Officer.

President Edwards was a charter member of Station 12 when it was formed in 1995. Aside from his direct service at the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, he has also served as a delegate for the Charles County Volunteer Firemans Association, the Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemans Association, and the Maryland State Firemans Association. He is operating as the Charles County Volunteer Firemans Association Executive Committee Chairman and serving on the Board of Fire and Rescue of Charles County. President Edwards is also a member of the Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemans Hall of Fame.

President Edwards is a retired Charles County Physical Education teacher, where he was employed for 37 years. He lives in Waldorf with his wife of 36 years. His son is also a member of the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department.
